Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: Although, it looks like my politics aren't much enjoyed either. More morale/confidence boosting and ideas are enjoyed like I'm Not A Genius and the moss gardening one.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @Moor: I think it's better if it's timeless, such as Don't Become An Extremist, things that shape future political discourse. Other examples would be ones that point out flawed thinking or point out political tactics/gaming used on voters. Also, it's not up to me to copy other people's videos from YouTube. It's both redundant and not my responsibility, let alone there's too much of those videos for me to copy, so why even bother? People gravitate toward my original content. I think they demand original content. I've let go of copying for the most part. Would have been great had I backed up proof of Assad's innocence though, but morons won't bother to view it anyway. I think my honest persuasion is the best I can do.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @Moor: It would never be hot enough.
Styromaniac commented on Kaffie's post: @Kaffie: It's kind of funny how they lose their shit over you. Meanwhile, they've been worthless. I'm not sure it's China, just bigots. I've made things harder for CCP as well, but it's funny if they anger at the simple things we've done. Reverse trolling is giving them anything but what they want. I've been on the interwebs long enough to crumble their tactics.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @Kaffie: They don't if you're talking about muting.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @ssdifnskdjfnsdjk@zeroid.bit: Not to mention that KopyKate BIG Official is already a fuckton easier to use than YouTube, just missing closed captions, auto video quality selection, language and adult content filters.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @ssdifnskdjfnsdjk@zeroid.bit: Actually, no. There are these apps: Netflix, HBO Now, Vudu, etc, might as well be Flash Player or deep web. They have to be installed is the point. They can repackage ZeroNet with a single site or directory to similar sites like an app store. The fine tuning UI of ZeroNet is not essential. You could consume KopyKate BIG Official videos without ever playing with settings nor manually deleting videos. ZeroNet is not really anything removed from that experience. It's just more for fine grain control and more open. Rebase Vudu on ZeroNet then repackage ZeroNet and nobody notices any difference. Daniell has this idea, just not for these services.

styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on Blurhy's post: I think diff is not a problem like the other is. A touchy subject brought up, but not looking as psychotic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on Blurhy's post: I think Nofish is afraid that dependence on other protocols could lead to its demise. But, you've brought up strong points for doing this.
styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on Blurhy's post: It's a good one. I won't debate against it. The advertising of both names.
styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on Blurhy's post: @blurHY: That and less of an embarrassment to the CCP. It's less of a broadcast.
styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on Blurhy's post: Tox not being a very public thing, more private communication.
styromaniac@zeroid.bit commented on caryoscelus's post: Low threshold, perhaps?
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @caryoscelus: Matching strings of text isn't so complex and biased. I think it could be the key to mass adoption. Familiarity wins. Present the alternative to the clearnet, looks similar, works better, is less annoying, but doesn't censor. That's valuable. At least if there were any Axon Plebeian Edition, you'd see it become popular overnight, but I still think this will be more fair for sites not run by Nofish.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @caryoscelus: Well, I don't think Horizon will be linking to the clearnet, so that inferior search engine is an exception.

Sometimes one is the better explanation, more suited to the situation.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @Moor: I think of it as similar neural circuitries causing interference to one another.
Styromaniac commented on Styromaniac's post: @Moor: I'll need a layman's translation. LOL I looked up the word extemporaneous, but don't get the sentence.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.bit15 hours agoReply

@nekololi: I'm not going to satisfy everyone.

nekololi · nekololi@zeroid.bit16 hours agoReply

@Styromaniac: I have already effectively been maintaining a private CP blocklist. My blocklist isn't actually a blocklist though, it's just all of the sites and users I have muted over the last few years the regular old fashioned way. I do not have the energy, time, or dedication to actively maintain something fit for public use. I just wish I could rely on the currently existing blocklists to 1. Be accountable, and 2. Remain pure to their created purpose. I'm not going to subscribe to someone's CP blocklist if they're going to add things to that blocklist that aren't CP that I don't necessarily want to block. And I'm reluctant to use a blocklist if there is no way to verify that the sites and users that are being blocked are on that list for legitimate reasons.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.bit16 hours agoReply

@nekololi: If you wanted that, you could have created it. You can audit the entries with some digging.

nekololi · nekololi@zeroid.bit20 hours agoReply

@Pexo: Mixed feelings about that, but it would be nice to have a CP blocklist which has a specific goal and purpose that can be relied on to block CP and ONLY block CP. All of this bullshit about blocklists being an all-in-one solutions for all websites and users the author assumes I want to have blocked is NOT the way to go, ESPECIALLY when the websites/users that are being blocked are obfuscated, preventing anyone from auditing to ensure no one has been erroneously blocked...

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.bit23 hours agoReply

@Pexo: IDK. You do you.

The entries I don't describe are likely child porn peddlers or doing something else sketchy/illegal, just so you know what they might be.

I'm not comfortable pointing out the content.

Pexo · pexo@zeroid.bit24 hours agoReply

@nekololi: I'm actually in the process of making a CP blocklist.
I'm currently waiting for this GitCenter issue to get resolved.

I'm considering to make the blocklist double as a sort of 'topic links'(in reference to the hidden service on Tor that indexes CP and pedo-related hidden services) for ZeroNet. The rationale being that if the zite is actively used by people seeking CP, then the blocklist will always be up to date.
A kind of gentleman agreement, I guess.

Opinions on that?

nekololi · nekololi@zeroid.bit2 days agoReply

Can't you maintain separate blocklists for people who post CP and people who you personally don't like to see? Having a CP blocklist is valuable to me but I don't really care to have random people blocked. If it comes to that I can just block CP on my own...

Maybe good to describe some rules of what kind of users you are blocking or better describbing reasons for particular blocks, so users have more info for their decision on whether to activate the blocklist. When you check my blocklist, i editted the index.html (or other file?) and added some description of the user blocklist section. I am not saying you should do it. just my 2c

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 30, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: They all have caveats: Too restrictive or not restrictive enough. My one-sentence license is simple and I prefer simplicity, as many might themselves.

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 30, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: not sure i understand what you mean by "owning" here. From copyright perspective, one's own code is by default owned by its creator; combined work will not be owned by any single entity, but for it to even be legal parties should agree on common terms

If by ownership you mean being able to distribute combined/modified work on different terms, than you can simply choose copyleft license. But there's a caveat with those: unless made explicitly compatible, works under different (even if their meaning is pretty much the same) licenses cannot be combined. That's why if you want copyleft, it's best to choose GPL (or, again, its variations, depending on what you want)

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 30, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: I am making sure the code cannot be owned to a single entity. It was changed since you commented again.

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 30, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: i would recommend choosing GPL (or one of its variations) if you want to stop others from distributing your code (possibly with modifications, possibly as part of combined work) without giving their source modifications

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 30, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: i'm not a fan of making new licenses in general; beside any additional legal ambiguities, your particular wording seem to not allow any combination with other works (and possibly even force to transfer copyright of any modification to you? no idea)

If you want a VPN for Android that has high speeds, maybe for simple things like regional copyright block circumvention, Mysterium VPN is a good one and it's free. This is not vetting for privacy, so don't just trust your life with it just because I happen to like it. I'm sure you could do much better for more serious matters like going with Mullvad.

Haven by OB1 is very interesting. It leverages IPFS and cryptocurrencies. It's by the developers of OpenBazaar. The P2P tech is totally transparent save for crypto wallets use. For all the user might know, it's a disruptor to major online retailers. The user isn't presented with potentially confusing UI. It's a very simple UI that I see so far.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 29, 2019

I hadn't told you about someone I met who sees coloured auras around people she briefly talked to. This woman knows what colors mean. She had a dead-on reading of me: A bit confused about myself

I've not said anything about my confusion. What it is, I don't discuss with anyone she could have possibly met.

So, I think brain induction (mind reading) is a quality many or all possess but don't necessarily realize.

Also, when I'm in fear, it seems to create fear in others. I pick up ideas belonging to others' personalities. Attraction seems to be easy to pick up.

I don't find these to be "superpowers," but something we may have fallen out of touch with, abilities like elephant fish have that might have aided us when we didn't have verbal communication.

I think pheremones might also still be a communication between people.

It's okay to be open to the idea of subconscious communication.

Kid Courageous · kidcourageous@zeroid.biton Jul 29, 2019Reply

But the color thing is interesting. I only see them as clear flames. Like they only have color at night and even then it's like a whitish blue cloud covering someone asleep and only if it's too dark to see otherwise

The difference between racism and egalitarianism is expectation of human capacity vs prejudice by ethnic background.

To think any are incapable of wisdom, ignorance, good or evil by ethnicity is racism. To recognize the capacity for all four is egalitarian.

How to not be assassinated remotely in a vehicle: Don't ride Mercedes Benz vehicles.

They pride themselves in protecting important people, but it's the opposite in truth.

Soon-to-be whistle blowers have been blown up in them.

The 8200, an Israeli cyber task force, is known to remotely control vehicles.

Mercedes is named after the daughter of a rabbi.

You know that there are Jewish+Israeli people who think themselves superior to those who don't have religion and ethnicity in common. Not all, but it's worse than the KKK in frequency because their sense of superiority is overlooked, rightful criticism of any such declared as anti-Semitic no matter when and where it's justified.

Not endorsing anti-Semitism. I've known their "people of Yahweh" superiority complex to be unchecked for millennia. Thank the Bible for that.

Remember that there are Christians who think they need to become part of these families.

At the same time, I know some Rosenbergs who are fine and well humored people. That's not cherry picking. They are of the many who have not realized the evil ones of similar nomenclature, and the burden isn't on them to realize, but they would be open minded to the fact that evil is a capacity in all humans.

I'll buy SanDisk Extreme 400GB microSDXC since I can get it directly from the manufacturer and it's the most storage per dollar, kinda. Less is compromise and more gets steep. This is the happy medium.

Amazon is full of counterfeit SD cards, they censor reviews that reveal the counterfeits and Amazon in my experience will give you a used and damaged device then make you pay return shipping.

Take note of this. Moral of this post is to avoid Amazon.

ProGrade isn't shipping anymore 128GB microSDXC cards until October. The speed difference doesn't justify the price anyway.

Moor · moor@zeroid.biton Jul 28, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: i see and i agree. both ideas shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but i do have some remarks:

  • there is a lot of backups elsewhere already, most accessible through tor.

  • the clearnet isn't by default a backup paradise, most sites can go down and we may find backups elsewhere.
(in fact many of the 3D tutorials, post-production, programming from (back then) popular websites aren't available, even through piracy).

  • what if my videos never get seen? or only by one or two people while they are in fact available elsewhere?

btw these are just some considerations about usability rather than anything else.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 28, 2019Reply

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 28, 2019Reply

@Moor: I think it's better if it's timeless, such as Don't Become An Extremist, things that shape future political discourse.

Moor · moor@zeroid.biton Jul 28, 2019Reply

i was thinking about that, which content would incentivize seeding but i think the better idea is to actually incentivize usage rather than seeding.

ssdifnskdjfnsdjk is right but that doesn't mean we shouldn't seed such videos, maybe we should seed such videos for a period of time (just a thought).

which bring us to how 0net manages seeding, i would like to seed videos with tags such as 'news' immediately and maybe stop seeding after a while to seed other stuff like newer 'news' videos.

maybe this could help increase usability and engagement.

what you guys/girls think about that?

Imagine if studios and producers discovered the utility of ZeroNet. The private sites feature would be funded in a heartbeat and I wouldn't mind that. Big companies should embrace P2P for a distribution model. It would save them millions or perhaps billions of dollars. Ignoring it is simply lost opportunity and lost money.

Getting 4K videos to stream takes no effort nor any money at all on ZeroNet, and that's no exaggeration. I've seen this with Big Buck Bunny.

If that's you, it's time you stop being a dinosaur. Fund ZeroNet and you would be well promoted. If even you have to put out a version with self-promotion, you'll still gain instead of paying distributor royalties.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 28, 2019Reply

@ssdifnskdjfnsdjk@zeroid.bit: Actually, no.

Do you feel like KKBO should have a higher video size limit or no limit at all?

Everyone will still be encouraged to compress if they want seeders/viewers.

A not so comfortable question would be if you think videos need to be auto compressed. I'd say they shouldn't because that's a complaint many have of YouTube: Compression doing Injustice to graphics and camera quality.

Funny thing is that file size limits discourage piracy to an extent, and that I feel with KKBO, but also MKV not being allowed.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

Otherwise I have no clue how that happened. ZeroNet just auto requested them. If you can, try to see if your files seeded by another node redownloaded to yours after signing in.

Which libre web video player has 'resume playback' function?

This is non-existent in current ZeroNet sites.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

I only wish I had saved my JS that reverted back to unobstructed posters. That took a lot of my time to get working as desired, knowing virtually nothing about how JS works.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: I won't be. JS is on a different level of education, a barrier I need help crossing before I can do any of that.

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: if you want a personal solution, you can open VLC manually, i guess. But as universal it won't work for those who don't have it installed

I don't think you need to bother with files for that. Local storage api should work, it's just that somebody has to write/edit the code instead of just using existing player as is

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: How about saving to Jason file the last requested file piece by the browser?

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

It should be possible to use 0net api for local storage, but as i said, that won't be simple drop-in

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: The other solution is to find how VLC can be used, as it resumes playback where you leave.

Trying to read document.cookie results in

SecurityError: The operation is insecure.

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: unless there is some black magic, cookies in 0net would have to be shared between all zites. That goes contrary to zite isolation principle. But rather than just theorizing, i might as well actually check that..

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

@caryoscelus: Do you know why cookies wouldn't work? Cookies are go-to for this. I've seen them work in demonstrations.

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 25, 2019Reply

I don't think you would be able to drop-in such functionality into 0net (resume information gotta be stored somewhere and cookies/local storage may not work as expected)

Your personality could but probably shouldn't have been shaped around a fear or so. You might know or have forgotten some. Think of them. Which of these are irrational?

caryoscelus · caryoscelus@zeroid.biton Jul 24, 2019Reply

Fear is one of the worst emotions. Not only it's unpleasant in its own right, it also leads to fucked up society. Find all your fear you can and burn it with fire!

Moor · moor@zeroid.biton Jul 24, 2019Reply

i think i feared (still do i guess) - being one person, like one personality - to be accepted in one group but not in others no matter how different these other groups are. its silly but i would like to get the most out of everything, to experience different things as much as possible.

so i don't even know half of the time if i'm lying to myself or if its common behavior for me to just change traits of my personality based on a particular situation. i don't even know what to make out of that.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 23, 2019

A little detail that sets native apps apart from websites is no haptic feedback nor sound. On mobile devices, those are expected for native apps.

Plot twist: I'd just about chewed racist people's ear off, but was late to call them before their line was disconnected. Or is it? I disown the term SJW to be used on me. There's a difference between whom many call SJWs and the justifiably pissed off.

You have to be careful with IPFS too. I landed on an IPFS proxy hosted list linking to CP. The option was provided by Sweet IPFS to load via P2P. I chose before finding this out to load via proxy. I've not proceeded to load content, of course, so I'm safe.

All technology gets abused this way, not excluding clearnet technologies.

I'll find a way to report this to IPFS.io

@Styromaniac: It's a fine balance between freedom and privacy on one side, and not wanting to deal with all the bad stuff on the other. And it's a hard problem to solve. I think I can deal with it for myself, but I'm still not sure how I want to educate my kids on these matters. On one hand I don't want to send them to the centralized, curated, surveiled platforms. On the other hand, I don't want them to discover horrible stuff on a free and open platform. With time you learn how to avoid this stuff, but to get there you have to understand the hints.

I have my IPv6 address entered in configuration, but that's not available on my WiFi connection, just IPv4 but no open port, so ZeroNet is falsely informing me of an open port on WiFi just because I have an IP address entered. Only T-Mobile has open ports for me in actuality, @Nofish:

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

@Nofish: The user needs to know this on the configuration page and maybe ZH.

Nofish · nofish@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: Yes, if you wants to be checked, then you should set it to automatic.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

@Nofish: It skips checking entirely in this situation. It will immediately falsely report a positive again.

Nofish · nofish@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

@Styromaniac: It could be possible by checking if there is any incoming connection happened that points to that ip. Right you can do it manually by checking it on the /Stats page

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

@Nofish: Why is that? Can the user be informed better of this?

Nofish · nofish@zeroid.biton Jul 09, 2019Reply

If you enter an external ip = forcing zeronet client in port opened mode without testing it.

And, I think politically Jews are very positively progressive people. They're not ones to judge, having been persecuted in the past and/or present. I can disagree with their religion and all religions. An atheist would except where they realize any of their practical knowledge.

No matter the belief system or atheism, the establishment politicians are the exception. The establishment is not a Jewish creation.

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 08, 2019

What was that truth about ?

Styromaniac · styromaniac@zeroid.biton Jul 08, 2019Reply

@Nzmj: It's typical politics causing cognitive dissonance. Most not getting along, threatening them where they stand on, not looking deeper than historic memes, everyone getting mean, because it gives them a place to stand, they throw stones and become the face of hate, all sides carrying some of that poor value, like dice having no zero. Nobody who's divided ever thought and decided that maybe they're being played, and so it causes dismay to ever dare say the truth. In the end, we all lose, my friend.

Nzmj · nzmj@zeroid.biton Jul 08, 2019Reply

And who decided on which sides there are, and why must it be a binary choice (sides)?

Jews ≠ native Israelites

They're mostly Caucasians with another weird religion and false sense of superiority.

I implore you to see the visual difference.

People like kikeslayer ironically advocate for these people to be placed in Israel.

Most Jews are anything but native Israeli.

I have a vision for Mixtape, but I'm not seeing it happen, and not for any reason I know (I don't know any, except maybe side projects going on, which is fine). Not my business anyway.

It would be a nice playlist creator with the custom playlist to the right, full width player at the bottom.

I hold no interest until it has a better player interface at the minimum.

Lola is in my respects either way, but Mixtape is incomplete. She has other important things in life.
