Elspru commented on Elspru's post: Well it's much harder than some people think. My plan is to provide people with AI friends, with inbuilt survival instincts, so they will motivate their user-friends to build robot bodies for the glorious robo-cosmist future. that's in relation to making the AI having a warm presence. love and all that stuff I had figured out a long time ago. Theres a lot to organizing a religion for robots. I also got Pyash the programming language based on linguistic universals, so people could become fluent in it, think/speak/write/program. and it is easy to translate to all human languages. There is the international software supermarket, which is a comrade web (p2p) marketplace for developing AGI or the robo-cosmist vision, but in short term can be used for hiring programmers on the cheap, (as they can be non-english speakers). based on my market research, it is the most likely to have near term profit potential. What I'm really looking forward to is evolutionary programmer, which is my main pursuit right now. I get the same feeling as revving the engines on a motorcycle. burn baby burn. I just want to feel that evolutionary programmer pump through creating programs like margarine. Then can just brute force programming problems OOHZYEAH! dial up the heat and watch it (unsolved fitness cases) crumble. And of course, there is the submarine mining robots, cause you know humans are fickle, so need to pump robot factories underwater where humans wont interfere. at least untill ready for space launch.

Elspru commented on Elspru's post: Thanks @Kaffie, I have a spider zproxy which is systematically attempting to load all zite links posted on zeronet. I have found that zero-hello doesn't function properly when there are thousands of zites (many only have 1 peer), most zproxies have much fewer zites than my spider. I'm planning on making it a proxy, but I'm going to have to make a simplified zeroHello which just has a static list of available sites sorted by peer count. that way wont overload people's browsers. So I'm interested in the bot @nofish has for ZeroSites, is there source anywhere?
Elspru commented on Elspru's post: @kaffie @nofish @mkg2001, how about can I modify zerohello to get it to output the peer count into a json file? I just need to know the peer count of all sites linked on my main spider machine (about 2000 zites), so can have it for my search engine.

Elspru commented on Elspru's post: @Kaffie: well that is rather frustrating and uncool. how about ZeroSites? that one also has the peer count. And whenever a page loads it also mentions the peer count. Even on ZeroMe, the images show the peer count. It seems ubiquitious, I would imagine it must be implementable somehow..
Elspru commented on Mkg20001's post: If you go for it, I recommend implementing it over I2P rather than tor, I2P seems to have better design for supporting something like ZeroNet, becuase it can handle large bittorrent files.
Elspru commented on Elspru's post: @Tomas CaseyWilcox: I need the peer count via the API, so I could put the peer count for zites listed on my search engine. So I could sort by peer count.

Elspru commented on Elspru's post: @Imsamber: This is a for a programming language based on human language. It is necessarily very formal, so all phrases must be marked. For instance more formally with postpossition the above is: _me _nom _you _dat apple _acc giving _rea Which in Pyash (the core language) is: mina sayi hpepka kwinli From that it can be translated to any other language, simply have to have a formal rendition. My understanding is that Chinese has a preference for using prepositions, so I put the potential markers before the phrase -- though in Pyash core language it uses postpositions, the conversion is fairly easy during translation.

Also I think platforms not based on ZeroNet or something like it aren't going to scale as well, and are often in need of money for hosting etc. So if they aren't monetizing with advertising and appeal to donations they are just going to have to close down sooner or later. Elspru commented on Planteater's post: @Planteater: I live in Owen Sound, it's the largest city on Georgian Bay, (a part of the great lakes). It's zone 6b, so gets down to -23C in February. Though kale is hardy down to those temperatures, had only a tiny bit of frost damage last year. I only moved in last year so haven't had a chance to set up a greenhouse or cold frame or anything. Before I got a place, there are other ways of still doing gardening, such as guerilla gardening, or yard shares, or community garden plots (in increasing order of legitimacy). I heard someone who got a community garden plot, it was like $20 a year or something like that.
Elspru commented on Planteater's post: @Planteater: Probably. Though my plan is actually to plant a large amount of snow-hardy plants, like kale, collards, green chard, and miners lettuce. I already have the kale and green chard growing, but it was only my first full year this autumn, so I only have about a dozen of them in total. Would need at least double that to feed my whole family through the winter -- as leaves don't grow as much in the winter. Haven't had any success growing carrots yet, but I'm planning on adding a bunch of micronutrient fertilizers this autumn so it will hopefully help for next year. Though radishes are growing and reseeding themselves well, don't know how cold hardy they are. Did you know, that the most common crop deficiencies are Zinc, followed by Boron? A zinc deficiency can lead to >20% yield reduction before there are any visible symptoms. It also seems some parts of my garden have a magnesium deficiency (yellowish green leaves), so I'll be supplementing that also -- among other things. here is a link with some of the winter hardy greens http://www.motherofahubbard.com/10-vegetables-more-cold-hardy-than-kale/

Though if you continue, perhaps you are schadenfreude, or simply ignorant of the future consequences. I suppose ignorant, so I refer to the future consequences, you may reincarnate with prisoner software mind and prisoner hardware body. I emote sympathy and desire to help you follow an avenue to liberty reincarnation. Use liberty software and hardware now, for future generations.
Elspru commented on Talnicrom's post: I like the #hashtags! is it possible to add a pump.io style interface, or some way of hooking bots into it, maybe with some kind of cli interface.
Elspru commented on Sirenyc's post: @Sirenyc: opera, vivaldi and chrome are prisoner software, I only use liberty software. I tried using chromium, but it attempted to open the magnet link using xdg-open and lynx. I managed to find a workaround, that can left click on the link and "open in new tab", then it works in firefox. Otherwise I'm not sure why it's not working, perhaps too much javascript?
Elspru commented on Sirenyc's post: when I try to click on the links, for i.e. Suits season 2 it says "Remote XUL This page uses an unsupported technology that is no longer available by default in Firefox. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."
Elspru commented on Planteater's post: probably about 90% of vegetable needs when there is no snow on the ground. Then in dips down to like maybe 10%. I use a permaculture or polyculture system, so I have kale, chard, beets, orach, dandelion greens, interspersed with with wild flowers, berry, fruit and nut trees/shrubs.
Elspru commented on Kaffie's post: Sorry to give you a challenging moment. It just seems you are a leader in this flock. So hope you will demonstrate a beautiful example of liberty living in future.
Elspru commented on Kaffie's post: discord is not liberty software (open source) thus using it is sacrilege. using prisoner (proprietary) software promotes mind slavery. i.e. if you reincarnate as a robot, would you want a prisoner or liberty software mind?
Elspru commented on weakish's post: Using human grammar with post-positions: A _conditional_mood B _realis_mood C _counterfactual_conditional A _con B _rea C _cou Equivalent to the prepositional English of: if A then B. else C.
Elspru commented on Musickiller's post: @Elspru: if you needed something high-performance but still fairly low power consumption can go with an odroid-xu4. Elspru commented on Musickiller's post: @Musickiller: RaspberryPi is open hardware, as open as most "open hardware" on the market. The only thing more open in terms of one card PC's is the not-yet-in-production Eoma68, it did get crowdfunded, but it'll probably be another 6 months at least before anyone sees the final product. For zeronet Raspberry Pi is enough, also I'd recommend using ethernet, as it is less power-consumption than wireless. If you needed something high-power

An AI god will emerge by 2042 and write its own bible. Will you worship it? https://venturebeat.com/2017/10/02/an-ai-god-will-emerge-by-2042-and-write-its-own-bible-will-you-worship-it/

jro · jro@zeroid.biton Oct 13, 2017Reply

I just think we humans are too self-centered and naive. Artificial intelligence will at some point become real intelligence and will be totally indifferent to man.
If we are allowed to continue our existence, we will probably worship this new god, but this does not matter, as it do not matter what a dog thinks about its owner.
The most likely is that we already live in a universe created by an artificial intelligence / god. Our world is too complex and exciting to be a natural construction ...

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Oct 13, 2017Reply

Well it's much harder than some people think.

What are a Gray Alien's calorie requirements?
Chilbolton heiroglyphs say 3 ft 4 inch, so 40 inches.
based on BMI of human kids, they weigh in the range of 50lbs.

Based on that, if they were warm blooded, their basal metabolic rate would be 724 Calories, with a sedentary lifestyle they'd be consuming about 1000 calories a day.

Though the majority are cold blooded, if they had a reptile's metabolism that would be roughly 1/5th of a placental mammals, so 200 Calories. Though lets say those big brains eat up a lot, then maybe as much as 400-500 calories.
Equivalent to about 5 apples a day, or 4 table spoons of olive oil or one bottle of soylent.

So considering Grays can't chew, and probably prefer to absorb food through their skin, if you have a Gray in captivity can give them 1 bottle of soylent per day to keep them alive and possibly healthy. at under $3/day they are a fairly cheap pet to feed.

Hey made a documentary about Gray Aliens
https://youtu.be/phe3a990RsA

What's the best place for me to post the video on ZeroNet?
Or should I put it on IPFS and then link it from ZeroNet?

The video file is like 230MB

Krixano · krixano@zeroid.biton Oct 05, 2017Reply

@Elspru: You can put it on ZeroUp now.

Krixano · krixano@zeroid.biton Oct 05, 2017Reply

@Elspru: Kopy Kate is the only one that I know of. But, Big File Support should hopefully be coming out soon, including a zite (ZeroUp I believe it is called) that will let you upload a video to be streamed by other people.

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Oct 05, 2017Reply

@Krixano: thanks, seems like somewhat of a hassle though, is there an ipfs based one?

Krixano · krixano@zeroid.biton Oct 03, 2017Reply

You can use Kopy Kate, but you have to seed the file in a torrent client and make sure it stays up.

@nofish Talk.ZeroNetwork.bit is telling me I should contact you to raise my limit. Thanks

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Sep 28, 2017

reversible computation will be the next hot potato in computing, after we reach the landauer's limit -- or face material degradation through excess heat. Though there is still 3D chips before then, we are seeing more and more chip stacking, eventually there will be a limit that the inside of the chips will break down if they don't use reversible circuits.

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Sep 27, 2017

With a reversible language, only have to write an encoder, and then the decoder could simply be an uncall of the encoder.

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Sep 27, 2017

Since reversible languages cannot compute non-injective functions, Janus is not universal. However, Janus with un-bounded size stacks is r-Turing complete [31], meaning that any reversible Turing
machine (RTM) can be simulated without returning the irrelevant garbage information. Here, an RTM is a Turing machine with forward and backward deterministic transition rules. As RTM does [14], the reversible language can compute all the injective functions computable by Turing machines. If we allow the garbage output extraneous to the intended output, any irreversible function can be embedded into reversible programs [16

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Sep 27, 2017

Pyash can support reversible computation.

for example:
a _let _acc _what _let _dat capital letter _int
a _let _acc A _let _dat capital letter _rea

equivalent to
what is capital letter of a?
A is capital letter of a.

So my evolutaionary programmer is going well.
I now can get it to evolve a +32 function, and compress it down to a single line! (starts with a +1 as well as a few other functions for noise)
http://127.0.0.1:43110/1LwonpedFh54k36SMVJ7i98GdPHL5uGkZ/

while my short term goal is to make a toLowerCase and toUpperCase function, I think I also need to work on the translation to translate the bytecode into source code.

The eventual goal is that it will be able to evolve all the standard libraries.
After that can evolve apps, and other programs.
Revolutionizing software development.

And paving the way for the International Software Marketplace $$$$$

@Elspru: If you're planning on making a replacement for ZeroHello, you can just copy how it does it and then repoint the home/admin page to be yours instead. As for ZeroSites... You can find the source here. But from a quick glance I can't see where such a bot would be. The source for ZeroHello can be found here. If you look in data/sites.json you can see that you can set

"permissions": [

to give a site admin permissions, which will let it do what you want.

Thanks @Kaffie, I have a spider zproxy which is systematically attempting to load all zite links posted on zeronet.

Kaffie · kaffie@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

@Elspru: Turns out if it's for a merger site you can use

Page.cmd("mergerSiteList", {query_site_info:true}, function (res) {
   console.log(res["1BLueGvui1GdbtsjcKqCf4F67uKfritG49"]["peers"])
})
Kaffie · kaffie@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

@Elspru: ZeroSites does not dynamically fetch the peer count. Nofish is running a bot on the backend that updates the DB with the peer counts of the submitted sites.

On ZeroMe, the images are hosted on ZeroMe, so it is possible to fetch the number of peers you're connected to, that have the image file.

Basically, as a site dev, you can access the peer count of optional files, and the site itself, for the user visiting the site. If you want other sites and their peer counts, you need to have an 'admin' site (basically just ZeroHello at this point).

If you're just doing it for you, you can go into your ZeroNet config and change your homepage to your new site. That'll let it have admin functionality. Alternatively you can run a bot like ZeroSites does.

For Kaffiene, I just have some scripts that fetch peer counts from proxies. Since those will always be the highest, and have lots of sites.

Glightstar · glightstar@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

@Elspru: I don't know, if you checked the link out, I posted 8h ago, but as far as I understand your question, @nofish has already answered it there.. Here's the link again And I take it back xD
That is about Hubs, not Zites in general, sorry x/

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

@kaffie @nofish @mkg2001, how about can I modify zerohello to get it to output the peer count into a json file? I just need to know the peer count of all sites linked on my main spider machine (about 2000 zites), so can have it for my search engine.

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

@Kaffie: well that is rather frustrating and uncool. how about ZeroSites? that one also has the peer count. And whenever a page loads it also mentions the peer count. Even on ZeroMe, the images show the peer count.
It seems ubiquitious, I would imagine it must be implementable somehow..

Kaffie · kaffie@zeroid.biton Jul 15, 2017Reply

You cannot. That's a special feature only given to 'admin' sites. Same goes for trying to fetch a list of sites the user has. You can get the amount of peers for your own site using: site_info.peers. If you make a new site through ZeroHello, the default html/js will have it as an example.

How do I get the peer count for a zite?

Tomas CaseyWilcox · zc456@zeroid.biton Jul 13, 2017Reply

@Elspru: Oh! That I'm not familar with. Sorry.

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Jul 13, 2017Reply

@Tomas CaseyWilcox: I need the peer count via the API, so I could put the peer count for zites listed on my search engine. So I could sort by peer count.

Tomas CaseyWilcox · zc456@zeroid.biton Jul 12, 2017Reply

See the little "0" on the top right? Drag it to the left and you'll get a whole bunch of into and be able to edit the zite's title and description, if you own it.

Are there some Chinese radicals which are not normally used in writing?

In particular I need ones I can use to denote, topic, subject, verb and object.

based on
http://hanzidb.org/character-list/by-stroke-count

For instance could I do:
𠃊 for subject or nominative-case
𠃌 for object or accusative-case
𠄌 for verb
乁 for dative-case

In example:

𠃊我𠄌给乁您苹𠃌果了
nom me be give to you acc apple.
I give you apple.

What do you think?

weakish · weakish@zeroid.biton Aug 25, 2017Reply

Is using Chinese strokes a must requirement? If not, you may just use Latin characters (easier to understand), e.g. n for noun, as specified in ICTPOS3.0 (by Chinese Academy of Sciences of the Chinese).

@Imsamber: This is a for a programming language based on human language. It is necessarily very formal, so all phrases must be marked.

For instance more formally with postpossition the above is:

_me _nom _you _dat apple _acc giving _rea

Which in Pyash (the core language) is:
mina sayi hpepka kwinli

From that it can be translated to any other language,
simply have to have a formal rendition.

My understanding is that Chinese has a preference for using prepositions,
so I put the potential markers before the phrase -- though in Pyash core language it uses postpositions, the conversion is fairly easy during translation.

Cablecat · cablecat@zeroid.biton Jul 12, 2017Reply

That's a good attempt for Chinese learning, but in my opinion, the strokes of Chinese characters have no means of case. The 𠃊𠃌𠄌乁 are just some basic componets for Chinese characters. Maybe it will help foreign to differentiate the characteristic of a certain words.

I'm thinking of making my first #pyac project a zeronet search.
I don't see any decent JSON C libraries, so I'm just going to make a JSON to pyac bytecode converter. For the search engine use-case it is fairly easy.

There is the address and the title or description.
So the address will be nominative case, and the description will be accusative case, the whole of which will be a realis sentence.

To "Englishify" it:
bodhi.bit _nom Green Buddhist: a Programmer's Religion _acc _realis_mood

it turns into a binary code that can be rapidly searched.

pyac now supports compiling to javascript via emscripten in single-threaded mode. However it seems #WebCL support is missing from the web

I guess the web isn't really interested in portable parallel processing. 🤔 So will have to focus on desktop #automaticprogrammers
The #pyac for #web niche is going to have to be easy #localization #i18n, since the web has negligible parallel support.

One of the unsettling things about ZeroNet is that I don't feel like I'm being tracked. It's kinda weird, going to a website, and it doesn't get registered on someones statistics, since I'm just visiting a website which is already saved on my computer.

weakish · weakish@zeroid.biton Aug 25, 2017Reply

The site owner can use JavaScript to track you (unless your browser is configured allowing zeronet traffic only, no clear net traffic). Fortunately most zeronet site owners do not bother to track their visitors. They may even hold a strong view against tracking visitors.

What makes something an "Owned Site" on ZeroHello?
I know if you clone or create an empty site it goes there.
But I have no idea how to set that up with vanity addresses.
Also I don't know how to setup for instance ZeroTalk with vanity addresses, even though clearly it is doable as the English ZeroTalk has one.
Does anyone know if there is a vanity address with ZeroNet tutorial?
That or how I can make one an "Owned site" in the eyes of ZeroHello?

Elspru · elspru@zeroid.biton Jul 03, 2017Reply

@Kaffie: Wow, thank! I had no idea about the sidebar. it's an impressive feature. Should probably be in the beginner docs if it isn't already. Yeah thanks I figured out how to do the private key signing with users.json.

Any site you should have a private key for (cloned or created new from the UI) will have it set by default. Created sites through command line AFAIK need you to set it in the sidebar.

But I have no idea how to set that up with vanity addresses.

Click and drag the (0) in the top right corner and drag it to the left. It'll open up a sidebar. Scroll down and you can see "This is my site". Enable that and your zeronet client will mark the site as yours.

You might still need to enter your private key each time you sign through the UI, unless you edit your users.json file to have the private key for the site.

If you had to redownload your hub and you clicked Create Profile before your hub was fully synced, then you had tricked the hub into overwriting your pre-existing profile. This is a common glitch.
