Edantes commented on Kaffie's post: @Kaffie: good stuff! I'm currently working on a full-scale torrents indexer so this is definitely relevant to my interests.
Edantes commented on Kaffie's post: Woah, this is awesome, combined with a decked-out indexer you're basically all set!
Edantes commented on Talnicrom's post: @Method-X: Yeah, that is the great thing about ZN sites, they can't be hacked directly. So, if you can avoid being compromised thusly and you're always using Tor then you're sorted as far as that is concerned. The escrow thing might be tricky though.....bitcoin multisig is a hassle for most people. But that said, they've come to accept a measure of risk for such transactions, I find. Honestly, I think the most efficient ZN marketplace would be a DIY swapmeet scenario: each vendor sets up their own hub (shop) and an off-site market forum is used for fedback, reviews, etc, just like on Reddit. The scammers would get named and shamed while the honest vendors could be trusted for direct transactions. And with no money being deposited "into" the market itself the threat of an exit scam would go away, worst that could happen is individual buyers getting ripped off by individual vendors. @Talnicrom: if you think you could build something like that, go for it, we're all pioneers here. I'm currently neck-deep in building a torrent indexer but we could definitely also do with a marketplace as well. You could start off by cloning ZeroTalk and reworking it into a Craigslist-type thing, easy to build and expand on that as you go along.

Edantes commented on Talnicrom's post: The key thing that everybody will care about is anonymity. Tor is still secure as far as we're told but is there anything specific about ZeroNet that might leak sensitive info? For example, at least one darknet site was busted via a Javascript exploit and without JS you don't have a dynamic ZeroNet site. In other words, people would need to feel safe enough to use such a marketplace on here.
Edantes commented on Method-X's post: I'm on several private trackers and find most worthwhile stuff tends to trickle down eventually. I've rarely, if ever, been unable to find something on either the lower-tier private trackers or on public ones. So you're not really missing out as much as you might think. Also, be really careful about soliciting invites in a "public" arena, it is a bannable offense and the powers-that-be at the exclusive god-tier trackers pool their records and maintain an information-sharing database that tracks and documents their many users. So if you get banned on one tracker it'll red-flag you and you'll often get banned from the rest of them as well. https://torrentfreak.com/private-torrent-sites-run-their-own-mini-prism-to-share-data-on-users-130908/

Edantes commented on Mynameislegion's post: Dont think the option to clone (from the menu) ZeroTorrent is available. Shame, it makes a great starting template. If anybody manages to get one up and running and wants to partner with a veteran torrents harvester, let me know, me and the fellas here are sitting on gigabytes worth of content that needs a forever home.

Edantes commented on Alek's post: Its essential for Zeronet's growth, right now so many of us who are used to clearnet development want to start building stuff but don't know where to begin exactly, there's a lot of creative energy and no clear way to channel it, damn shame.
Edantes liked Alek's post
Edantes commented on Alek's post: Yeah, there really needs to be some by-the-numbers tutorials made for Zeronet development, preferably on YouTube, first something basic like Build Your First Zite and then eventually delve into the specifics, working with hubs, SQL and the like.

Edantes commented on Sirenyc's post: KAT clones have a bad reputation, they're scummy and misleading at the best of times and generally breed mistrust, definitely not the most ringing of endorsements. The site design is good but it really needs a new name, new brand, new start. Personally, I think we should use the existing ZeroNet defaults as templates and gradually expand their functionality. Hell, the ZeroTalk template is a good start, as seen with ZeroTorrent. Use one site per category, code in some user classes, add a social network or messageboard for the community and voila, we're up and running, you can simply keep adding and expanding on that, it keeps things modular and manageable.

Edantes commented on Edantes's post: @Truth: yeah, heard about the multiuser plugin but I'm not going to bother, ZeroTorrent isn't going to be active for much longer anyway, I'll be saving my efforts for something more stable. @Sirenyc: I hear ya, buddy. There are already several other index sites on Zeronet but I'm thinking about much grander scales. I am envisioning the cooperative building of a vast digital non-profit "Doomsday Vault" for literally ALL active torrents on ALL public trackers, there's roughly about 60 million of them at last count. From movies to tv shows to music to games to books/comics to apps to you-name-it, if they're not dead yet they get lovingly indexed and made available to everybody, forever. This is quickly becoming a mission critical issue as DMCA takedowns have recently really started to ramp up and with TPP looming on the horizon things are only going to get worse, the fall of KAT and Torrentz.eu is merely the prologue. Therefore, I am proposing that We, the Free and Noble Netizens of Zeronet, pool our varied talents and resources together and make this happen. For my part, I can help harvest, process and upload the relevant materials, you and several others can do the same. But we also need Zeronet-savvy programmers to actually help build this Vault and keep it operational, netsec pros to keep it safe, graphic designers to brand and adorn it and an army of moderators to keep everything running smoothly. It would need to be a community effort in every way.
Edantes commented on Edantes's post: Yeah, just mentioned that on your recent post. Most people are only after movie, tv and games torrents, forcing them to download everything else would be insane. Not sure if the KAT guy is aware of all this, he hasn't posted in a while.....

You are running out of your allowed space, please contact the site's admin at someone to raise your limit.

Looks like my uploading days on ZeroTorrent are finallly coming to an end. :( But on the positive side I've been able to tweak my scripts for optimal harvesting and uploading, dead torrents are excluded as are duplicates, and as for the descriptions I dont think we'll be able to squeeze as much in as on clearnet sites, the space just isn't there, the bare minimum will have to suffice.

Just use the multiuser plugin that comes with ZeroBundle. I didn't get to change between users yet, but should not be that hard. You can at least create random accounts with it.

Sirenyc · sirenyc@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

I have the same problem, my upload time in zerotorrent over, the admin does not appear to free up more space. We need another torrent site that the admin is following the evolution of the site and users.

Jayofthezero · jayofthezero@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

Definitely would be interesting to see a Torrent site built with hubs. Just like ZeroMe, the Torrent site itself would just be a frontend, so people could basically design their own Torrent site and have it access the same databases. The hub design also means that people could "subscribe" to the content they want. So if people don't want to see NSFW stuff they just don't have to add that hub.

Kaffie · kaffie@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

@<tkarita/>: See my old posts. Hover over my user name on each post on my profile. You can see that after it gets old enough, red hub posts start to show.

As it stands, the backend works fine. There's no issues with this, and it'd work fine if repurposed for a torrent site. The problems occur due to the ZeroMe merger site not merging things properly. A properly made merger site wouldn't have any issues.

tkarita · tkarita@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

@Kaffie: as they are now, wouldn't there be problems if someone tried to post to multiple hubs?

Edantes · edantes@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

Kaffie · kaffie@zeroid.biton Aug 13, 2016Reply

What we need is a torrent site that uses the hubs/merger feature. So that anyone reaching a cap can just use their own hub, or a hub with a huge limit. Hubs will also allow us to organize content, so that users only ever need to download categories/genres/etc. they're interested in.

Edantes · edantes@zeroid.biton Aug 11, 2016

Its needs more refining but this clearly is the wave of the future.
