Jjg commented on Jjg's post: nm, updating seems to have fixed it :)

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks gave me some good tips in a previous post. It sounds like what I want to do is run ZeroNet in multiuser mode behind an HTTP proxy (the suggested Caddy). I have a server I can use, but I might use an existing public proxy until I get around to setting all that up :)

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Ah, I didn't know there was a multiuser setup :) I have so much to learn...
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Cool. I'll give Caddy a try, it looks cool and I'd love to avoid dealing with SSL certificates. If I get stuck I'll probably fall-back to nginx but I'll at least give Caddy a try. One question I have about this setup is, when someone visits the zite via the proxy, do they have an "identity", i.e., what private key is used? I want to allow anonymous access to my zite, so I can create a new key for that, but if visitors leave comments, etc. do they all looks like the same identity from a ZeroNet perspective?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: So with this setup can I point a regular DNS name at the proxy and have it resolve to a specific ZeroNet site (perhaps with some host header finagling) or is it strictly a proxy and requires the ZeroNet path/etc.? My goal is to map specific DNS hosts (foo.bar.com) to particular ZeroNet sites (primarily a blog) so I can work inside ZeroNet but publish outside to recruit new users :)
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: That's awesome. I've been doing that by hand using nginx and yeah, it's a pain :)
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Wow, I've never heard of "Caddy" before, looks pretty cool.
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks: Excellent, thank-you!
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Thank-you @ks, this is excellent info!

Jjg commented on ks's post: Been using pi-hole for about six months and it's been excellent. Ran into a few problems about it being over-aggressive, but easily resolved using the whitelist feature.

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Jro: so if I cloned a site on one computer, and then I wanted to continue using my clone on another, should I throw that switch on both computers?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Seems to be showing up now, although the test content is missing?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Durand: port appears to be open, the url is http://127.0.0.1:43110/18mFaFszijxNg49HPDoRSPzkSmQrV31LRH/
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: Maybe I'm using the wrong url...
Jjg commented on Nofish's post: @AntiGNU: one concern I have with relying on POW is that it tends to use a lot of power which limits the platforms you can target (in particular, mobile devices). You can work around this by using specialized hardware but that kind of defeats the purpose of POW.
Jjg commented on ks's post: I'll have to give this a try.

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Nofish: Ah I hadn't considered that. Thank-you for answering all these questions. I'm excited to start hacking on ZeroNet so I'm trying to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible :)

Jjg commented on Nofish's post: How did I miss this project for two years? So many of the things I've been working on or designing have had similar goals. Thank-you for doing the work for me ;) Looking forward to contributing and growing the community once I have a handle on how everything works.

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Nofish: I see, so are hubs primarily used for multiuser sites like ZeroNet?

Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Nofish: so it's kind of like a shared storage area for a Zite, vs. regular Zite files that only the owner can modify, is that correct?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks: and like magic, it just appeared! Perhaps I just wasn't patient enough.
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks: curiouser and curiouser
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks: I do have a directory for the address in my data_dir, but even if I visit the URL as you posted it, the site doesn't get added to my ZeroHello list. I'm wondering if there is something I need to do to "activate" it (if that's the right term, still learning the names of everything here)?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @ks: It doesn't, which is what I expected would happen. When you visit that link does it start seeding for you?
Jjg commented on Jjg's post: @Jro: Thanks for the tips, I'm still learning the vernacular (merger sites, etc.). When I added Zerome I was prompted to select something (I think a merger site) but there was only one option so I picked that one :) Sounds like there are multiples, and you can "connect" more than one a time, is that right?
