Tusiko commented on klu9@zeroid.bit's post: @styromaniac@zeroid.bit: Thanks for that info!
Tusiko commented on klu9@zeroid.bit's post: @SSDifnskdjfnsdjk: I didn't know that one can use a proxy to view zeronet sites. Interesting.
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: 1890 the people bought fuel for their few cars in a pharmacy store. Never thinking that later all people like to drive one. And Bill Gates spoke in the 1990th that nobody would need an internet. 😂
Tusiko commented on ulrichard's post: @ulrichard: Ich bin gespannt, wo die Reise hingeht. Ein guter Coin ist jedenfalls notwendig. Bargeld wird immer unattraktiver und Kartenzahlung is ja alles andere als "privat".
Tusiko commented on ulrichard's post: Right. The important word is: **decentralized** Networks as well as currencies.
Tusiko commented on ulrichard's post: Interessant.
Tusiko commented on Advocatusdiaboli's post: @ulrichard: The things is that all car owners pay a yearly tax, which is normally reserved for repairing streets. But in the last 40 - 50 years this money was spent for other _important projects_. So this deal fails. The government has saved no money for the streets. Today they know that our streets are very desolate and try to give enormous amounts for their fixing. So much went wrong in the last decades. If I use a road in France or Luxembourg, I see it very clear. They have so pretty good streets. If you drive back to Germany you know, when you are here. It is the point, when you see potholes and the car is shaking. We are back home...
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: @Styromaniac: I agree. I would use much more humor, but my English is not good enough for that. In German language I am more posting funny stuff. :-)
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: @Styromaniac: That would be a good idea. In the setting one can block the "hello" messages. But, why we have them, if nobody reads them?
Tusiko commented on Advocatusdiaboli's post: You are not alone. In Germany we have the same problem and pay the same taxes. And ... our streets look same like yours. Many, many roads, including bridges are heavily damaged, even many motorways. In future perhaps I better buy a horse than a car.

Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @Pexo: Yes, the specs sounds nice. I follow the development and hope they can hold the date around April for sale.
Tusiko commented on Alt3's post: @Alt3: I have absolutely no problem with that. Freedom is freedom for all here.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: All I read so far in the net ends up to 2 solutions: - Buying a Sony Xperia and Sailfish - Waiting for the Librem 5 As I do not like so much the Xperia the solution is only one. I will wait for the Librem 5 in hope that it will be good enough for daily tasks.
Tusiko commented on Alt3's post: @Styromaniac: Ah okay. Perhaps I am too old for that. :-) And in Tor some users ware fishing for cp with that sentences.
Tusiko commented on Alt3's post: Nothing for kid at 12, if this is your true age. (I doubt)

Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @Pexo: Replicant is surely good, but it is only for a handful of devices. Only Samsung and a Nexus.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @Androiduser: Done! Sorry for that. Normally I do this. It is late here. :-/
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @~Publicality~: Why not. We don't celebrate Christmas either. We do not got to church or something else. We just like the family life, when all are coming and we are together.
Tusiko commented on caryoscelus's post: @caryoscelus: emacs and vim have both very special commands and if you don't use them regularly you always search for the right commmands. You landed at emacs, I at vim. Both are very very good editors. I work more in the terminal than using kate or gedit. I try to avoid the mouse for more convenience while writing and typing. It is just faster for me. For editing code with a gui I can recommended Geany as a very good editor.
Tusiko commented on caryoscelus's post: I like emcas much, but I ended some day on vim due to the fact that at least vi is in every Linux system included. Vim is my standard editor for everything, even for the blog posts.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @~Publicality~: For beginners I ever recommended _Linux Mint_. It is good for Windows changer and easy to handle. To tell the truth, on Linux you have to use the console (commandline) at some time. The old Linuxer know that working with the keyboard is much faster and easier than clicking around with the mouse. I often work with the terminal (also commandline) and on one machine I have only the console and no colored fancy GUI. :-) I love it to work on it. You can learn it fast.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @~Publicality~: Haha, I would die with only one meal a day. It is a good way to have a late breakfast and sit together with the family, talking and eating. I like brunch. But at dinner I'm hungry again. :-)
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: @Hexator: A good decision. ;-)

Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: I use Vivaldi since yesterday and love it. But I tried to view a video on [DTube](https://d.tube). That didn't work. I changed to Chrome and the video started instantly. Hmm.

Tusiko commented on Retro2018's post: What would you like to improve?
Tusiko commented on Retro2018's post: I use many deep webs. In my eyes Zeronet is on a very good way.
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: I am at ZeroMe Reloaded now. What is the advantage here in comparison to ZeroMe? Except from some different colors (needs a dark theme) I see nothing more than in ZeroMe.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @1pgallery: Of course. 👍
Tusiko commented on ssdifnskdjfnsdjk@zeroid.bit's post: @leftside: You can use chromium, which is open source, to be on the safe side.
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: @Leftside: Tutanota encrypts everything, including the subject. And all your data is stored encrypted on the servers of Tutanota. Really nobody can read your mails or data. This is a next step towards more privacy in these hard times. It is not compatible to PGP. But in fact I often told my friends to use PGP. They don't. For common users it is too complicated. In Tutanota you just write a mail and it is encrypted. Even if the recipient has no Tutanota. He gets a message with a link. And you give him a password, which he needs to open the link. I it simple and effective.
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: @Diligentslacker: 👍
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @~Publicality~: No, I just think that Zeronet has calculated with so stupid users than me. After deleting the index.html and reloading the site, Zeronet built a new index.html. Otherwise my blog would have been dead. Now I made a back of the whole folder. I don't know how Zeronet takes care about the index file.
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: @~Publicality~: I am actually testing it. Seems to be good.

Tusiko commented on Cnsaga's post: Welcome. What a great picture!
Tusiko commented on Seraphybr's post: Welcome :-)
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: @~Publicality~: That is a thing, Freenet does much better. If there is a content published, there is absolutely no way to delete it. You can delete all content of your site (even if you are forced to do that), but Freenet has a versioning system. Users can just open the former version of your site and all content in there. This is real censorship resistance. :-) Zeronet needs a tool to resist censorship.

Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @Klu9: The first time I had the same problem. Open the chat and just wait some minutes. Then you can go into the settings and it should work. In my browser it works nice now, even the settings.
Tusiko commented on Realjohndoe's post: Neither the Russian politicians nor the Nazis are the good ones. They weren't and never will be.
Tusiko commented on Publicality's post: @Thunder: And in the meantime the site will be shared on to more peers perhaps. A shutdown can be nearly impossible. If a site has 100 peers, the govs have to identify all 100 of them. In an anonymous network.
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: Seems to be really good. One step to more privacy. All data are on the server encrypted, even the provider cannot read them. The service has been tested here in Germany. Result: Very good. The service is poor. No calendar, no mail import. But the mail service itself is good. I have a new account. :-)
Tusiko commented on Styromaniac's post: A German mail service with automated local encryption. The servers underlie German data protection law. But they don't use PGP, they use an own encryption system to even encrypt the subject. Should be similar to Protonmail, but Tutanota only needs a few data from you. I think, I will try it out.
Tusiko commented on Hexator's post: @Realjohndoe: Absolutely right!
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @Nofish: I always use the Tor Browser. But it is okay now. I just waited some minutes and now the website runs normal. Thank you.
Tusiko commented on ssdifnskdjfnsdjk@zeroid.bit's post: Even the younger generation is addicted to these cameras. The time before digital cameras was different: Who had made a photo of his/her meal? Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: I got it now. I opened thunderwave.bit again and went away from the laptop. 15 minutes later I was back and now it is not slow anymore. I think there were some files to download first. Now it works.
Tusiko commented on Tusiko's post: @SSDifnskdjfnsdjk: I read both posts and will wait till the next Zeronet version. Then I'll test it again.
Tusiko commented on Hexator's post: It is pretty cool. :-)
Tusiko commented on Realjohndoe's post: I like this style in b&w. Nice.
Tusiko commented on Borys's post: You can make a new empty website with ZeroHello. There you can store files and link to them. But this works only if you are online and share this site till you have more than 1 peer. An elegant way is to publish a little website with some interesting content, which will be shared from some other peers. Then store a file in that folder and you can share everything, even without being online. And or course - on IFS. See the link below.

You only have to run it 24/7 and wait one or perhaps two days. I use I2P for years now and it is stable and fast. And the most secure darknet we have at time. And the more user I2P gets, the faster it is.
Tusiko commented on Quantumworld's post: A good attitude.
Tusiko commented on Quantumworld's post: @Quantumworld: Right. The independent clearnet is gone forever. Has it ever been independent? The future are the darknets and ZeroNet in my eyes. Tusiko commented on ulrichard's post: @leftside: I have nothing created in my mind. What you call "Many parts of the bible" is the Old Testament. Look at Wikipedia: "The Christian Old Testament overlaps with the Hebrew Bible and the Greek Septuagint; the Hebrew Bible is known in Judaism as the Tanakh. " The Christians just took over the parts from the Tanakh. "Even the Gospels", as you wrote, is the whole New Testament. The Gospels are only 1 of 4 genres. The New Testament is written some decades after Jesus's death. True. The whole content is transported from mouth to mouth. If you do this about some generations, how much from the original "story" will be in the final and written version? I believe in science and what I wrote was not from my mind, it all is well researched and you can proof it. I know that Wikipedia is not the best way to proof something, but in this case it is true. Sometimes hard to believe for believers.
Tusiko commented on ulrichard's post: @leftside: The bible was written 100 - 200 years after Jesus' death. All stories are from hearsay and there are only tales in a big book. If you look at the date of many christian celebrating days, you will find out that the former pagans had a celebration day at that time. The church put a celebration day exactly on this time to force the people into their faith (and prohibited the celebration of the pagan day). Formerly the people celebrated the coming back of the sun at December 25th. The roots are in Egypt. The Christmas tree is a pagan sign as well and was only "occupied" from the church. There is no chapter in the bible about Christmas. It is all a lie. I do nit believe in any religion or any god.

How secure is the download of a file in Zeronet? It is well known that downloading files in I2P is anonymous and secure. But how is it here? Could my IP get traced when I'm using Zeronet with Tor?

Realjohndoe · realjohndoe@zeroid.biton Dec 09, 2018Reply

Don't forget about using a quality VPN if you're paranoid. By quality VPN, I mean a reputable VPN that doesn't do logging. Even just a reputable proxy that doesn't do logging can obscure your IP over an encrypted connection to it. The real concern are things like devices and browsers leaking your IP. Encryption protocols leaking, and of course state-sponsored backdoors in the form of device and protocol weaknesses. For example, the TrueCrypt escalation weakness. Government-sponsored weaknesses in some symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic protocols etc..😀

Tusiko · tusiko@zeroid.biton Dec 09, 2018Reply

@Pexo: Thanks for your detailed answer. I will be patient till Zeronet over I2P works. Good to know.

Pexo · pexo@zeroid.biton Dec 09, 2018Reply

Depends on who you're hiding from. A state level actor(think government) will have significant trouble finding out who you are, if you are on tor always mode and using zeronet through the Tor Browser Bundle.
That said, zeronet over tor is significantly less anonymous than i2p and a bit less then just using tor(reason for that being that correlation and sybil attacks are more effective on the tor network the more individual connections you make, since zeronet uses torrents this makes it less anonymous than tor alone). ZeroNet over i2p would be optimal, but since there is currently only one dev really working on this it could take a while for i2p to arrive. It already is in development(see here(clearnet) or here), so we just need to wait.

no idea but would like the answer too :)
