Emeraude commented on Krixano's post: @Krixano: Actually it's the exact opposite. Because of deadlines and lack of code review, proprietary software is more prone to vulnerabilities and bugs. Plus, you have no warranty that there is no backdoor/malicious code execution involved (Wiko is a recent example of that)
Emeraude commented on Krixano's post: Because it's not free software. (And because it's a derivation of an extermely unstable WIP OS called "dirty OS")
Emeraude commented on Schiz0's post: Do you plan hosting this list on a ZeroNet zite?
Emeraude commented on Krixano's post: @Krixano: It's only my opinion, but I don't think bringing Google into ZeroNet is a good idea at all. This has been discussed a few days ago on [ZeroTalk](http://127.0.0.1:43110/Talk.ZeroNetwork.bit/?Topic:12_13aB79mzuRLgDYzQthn9wzycjw77WyDXh6).
Emeraude commented on Krixano's post: No.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Glightstar: `hostname` is just a shortcut for the real domain name, which is `hostname.`. There is always a dot, but it's never wrote because... I don't know why actually. @Ivesen: Yep, it has to exist ;) More information here: http://www.dns-sd.org/trailingdotsindomainnames.html
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Glightstar: Yes, that's the correct domain name. The domain name without the `.` is supposed to be a shortcut.
Emeraude commented on Jayofthezero's post: @Jayofthezero: Yes, that's planned ;)
Emeraude commented on Jayofthezero's post: Yes, I'll take a look at it. This would make ZeroMusic support large FLAC files :)
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Musickiller: If you are using a script that manage streams to log errors in a file, the file won't be filled. That's only an example, and it can be very confusing if you are using a monitoring tool.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Musickiller: Isn't writing text on stdout/stderr one of the very first things you are supposed to learn when learning a (new) language?
Erneraude commented on Musickiller's post: @Musickiller: Maybe. But it's not how it works in the real world. A company will never fall if they open source all their software. Just look at RedHat or GitLab. And there are thousands of examples.
Erneraude commented on Musickiller's post: @Musickiller: More seriously, you cannot trust a proprietary software. Why is the source code hidden? Why do you want to hide the wanted behaviour of the software I let you ran on **my** computer?
Erneraude commented on Musickiller's post: @Musickiller: You said "security" and "Windows" in the same sentence... ;) Thx :) I tried to setup namecoin once, but I didn't manage to make it work. I'll it another try when I'll be less busy^^
Erneraude commented on Musickiller's post: @Musickiller: Avast, a company who designed proprietary security software? Yet another abomination that shouldn't exist.
Erneraude commented on Musickiller's post: It depends on the webcam. If the manufacturer is not a complete dumbass, it's impossible.

Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: I think I'll buy them. It may seems a bit paranoid, but I don't understand why the government has to know all the places I go with their cameras.
Emeraude commented on Binchan's post: I just merged, signed and published it.

Emeraude commented on Binchan's post: Oh that looks very nice! Could you make a PR on the [github repository](https://github.com/Emeraude/ZeroMusic/)? I didn't really work on the design of the site, and I'm happy you did something like that :)
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: Apparently they will not confuse drivers, because they act exactly like safety vests.
Emeraude commented on ulrichard's post: 100% accurate.
Erneraude commented on Nofish's post: This sounds great! Will there be a video live for people that can not come? Is it possible to hold a remote speech?
Erneraude commented on ZAlex's post: @Uv: I don't know where you live, but do you believe you live in a democracy?
Erneraude commented on ZAlex's post: This sounds completely stupid because it is Google, but remember that the same thing is happening for thepiratebay and warez sites (which do not contains illegal things, only links to illegal content), and, strangely, in this case, everybody thinks it's ok.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I'm a bit busy now, but I'll definitely continue to work on ZeroMusic later. You can checkout the [github repo](https://github.com/Emeraude/ZeroMusic), there is a list of planned features in the readme file.
Erneraude commented on tiamat's post: I also managed to modify bloxels several times in a row by updating my system clock (that lowered the difficulty).
Erneraude commented on tiamat's post: I managed to put a #ff00ff pixel at 60,18 by editing the html. Do you plan to make it impossible?
Erneraude commented on tiamat's post: I really really like this kind of site (I've always been fascinated by the million dollar homepage). However, isn't it too heavy to mine over the browser?

Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: Yes, more formats will be added in the future. I don't know which ones yet, but it's planned.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: There is no limit for optional files anymore (The limit for mandatory json files is still here)
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I set a limit for optional files to 10GB. It was stupid, I just removed it. You should be able to upload again

Emeraude commented on Mkg20001's post: @Mynameislegion: I left ubuntu just before the 11.04 version, which was the first one using Unity. I always found it pretty (for those who like flat design), but too less efficient for being used as a desktop environment all of the time. Dropping it is a very good choice, and gnome is a very good desktop environment.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I'm thinking about making something similar to classical music players. My current model is Rhythmbox.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: You now have 1MB.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @disquisedBeemo: No. I just cloned it and it worked well without me having to do anything special. Can you describe precisely the issue (ZeroNet logs, zite behaviour, etc...)?
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Plasmmer: Yes, but if two people are uploading the same song with small differences (maybe typos in ID3 tags), the hash will be different and the sonds will not be detected as identical.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Plasmmer: It is planned, but I'll do it after the metadata detection system.

Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I gave you 200KB this time.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Jayofthezero: Sounds strange. What are the names of the files you tried to upload ?
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: It's planned yes.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I think I found it. I limited the non-optional files to 10KB, and metadata about optional files take a lot of space (files hashes, etc...). I changed it to 50KB for everybody. It should be ok now. I'll probably add a way to require more space when you are at the limit (maybe sending by me a notification in my newsfeed or something like that)
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: The images are cool. I'll may use one of them (I made some drafts too)
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Sirenyc: I set a limit of 10GB for everybody (I don't care about the limit since there is only optional files). It only works for mp3 files now. What does the zeronet logs say ?
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Kaffie: I'm not sure if the folder structure you are thinking about could work, I don't know if it's possible to do it using ZeroNet API without having the zite requiring admin rights. Maybe it's impossible even using them. I'll sure look into that.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Kaffie @Rythyrix: ID3 support is planned. The current detection system is very poor and obviously bugged.
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Kaffie: It sounds really strange. I just tried it from a fresh ZeroNet install and it worked correctly (I just had to refresh the page once, because there is no real-time update for now). Is there any error in the zeronet logs or in the browser console ?
Emeraude commented on Emeraude's post: @Kaffie @Rhthyrix: I re-signed it, it looks ok now.

Emeraude commented on Martinv's post: There are two ways to create such content: via an existing zite or by creating a new one. But if a zite contains malware/pedo, its visitors will just stop seeding it. But propagating this kind of shit via existing zites, I think the zites have to adapt. As an example, we can flag accounts as spam on ZeroMePlus. The illegal content is not really an issue. If hosting and seeding pedo stuff was that worrying, google and amazon would have been imprisoned years ago. Regarding the malware part, we need some security audit to prevent it. But remember that downloading malware is harmless if you do not execute it.
Emeraude commented on Martinv's post: Since I'm using a laptop, I'm leaving ZeroNet running as much as I can (I probably have an uptime of 95%).

Fun to see a soft like this, but some bugs are presents. I also tried an emacs-mode that play audio files. Fun too, but pretty useless.

TL;DR: Gmail is awful.

Sometimes, when I need to register to online services to test them, I like to use a garbage gmail address. But gmail is doing weird things. I'm currently trying to signin an account I created 6 months ago, but it asks me for my phone number because There's something unusual about how you're signing in.
Obviously, I do not want to associate my phone number with a garbage account I use once a year, so I click the Try another way to sign in link, which give me two choices: using my phone number (that's why I truly believe google's employees are dumbass), or to ask Google for help getting back into my account.
So I click the second button and it asks me for the last password I remember. I'm using keepass, so I can't mistype it. It then ask for my account creation date (which is the date I added it into my keepass, so I cannot make any mistake here).
Then it asks me for another email address where they will send a code to me. Here it really become weird: needing to access an address mail to access an address mail is a nonsense.
Whatever, I enter some shitty yopmail address, retrieve the code, enter it and... Thanks for verifying your email. You weren’t signed in because Google couldn’t confirm that ********@gmail.com belongs to you. And it's over, I do not have any other solution, no link to contact them nothing.
Okay, it's a garbage address so I don't care if I can't access it, but what about someone who is really using gmail and does not have any phone number ? He'll simply lose all of its emails
Gmail is so shitty that it can lock you outside your mailbox.

@Ulrichard: Actually, I just meant a TOTP type of 2FA.

Ulrichard · ulrichard@zeroid.biton Jan 31, 2017Reply

@ks: U2FA to be precise

It would help if people used 2FA and installed the code generating app on their phone. Or if they'd saved their backup access codes.
